Where Was God Big City Lies Small Town Secrets Where Was God Series Sheila L Jackson 9780692583104 Books Reviews

  • Before purchasing "Where Was God," I had the pleasure of meeting the author, Sheila L. Jackson. Moments after saying our goodbyes, I purchased one of her books. The next day I began to read and became very agitated whenever life interrupted my reading. One day later, even with all the interruptions, I finished the book. I have read books from some amazing authors, like Vanessa Williams and Brenda Barrett, two of my favorite fiction Christian writers, and I rank Sheila L. Jackson right at the top with the best. The storyline was so captivating. I despised Gladys and Nicole, felt pity for Fayth and her sister, and cheered for Jaison. I understood the walls that Angelica built to protect herself from the hurts that the world can deal you and I rejoiced when all records had been set straight and God's faithfulness to his children' obedience brought victory to a strong Jaison (J.C.)
Thank you Sheila for such an enjoyable writing. I look forward to reading all of your books that are printed and are future works. God definitely has a plan for your gift.
  • I am not much of a Christian fiction lover and definitely not a romance kind of person, but this book's title drew me in. Especially since like the main character I've asked the same question. Fayth/Angelica has spent so many years living a life that wasn't hers. What was meant for her, she couldn't see or appreciate because she was programmed to believe differently. This character was very relatable and also very annoying. She endured and worked through her conflict through out the entire book. The story didn't drag but had some repetitive content in parts. I found the book easy to read because the chapters were short, the font size large and the centering of text on the page was different than usual. More like vertically justified on most pages. For me, these details stood out. I would have liked to have had more background on Jasion but the story wasn't about him. The story was about forgiveness. Moving forward. Accepting God's plan and trusting and believing in yourself. Good read, I give it 4 stars.
  • From the beginning to the end, unfortunately, there are errors. These include words that are in the wrong tense and unnecessary commas. I paid for this book and was not able to get a refund, so I read the entire thing. Yes, Ms. Jackson has some skill in writing. However, the editor did an extremely poor job in ensuring this book was free of errors.

I wished there was more focus on twists of the investigation and less on the repetitive memory of the main characters saying they recall their first loves. Some scenes were rushed and out of order.

I'm an avid reader, but I don't plan to get any more books by this author.
  • Where was God, God is always there he never leaves us. When the Heroine's father died everything changed for her. Her mother became very abusive. At her father's funeral she met the Hero, they were both children at the time, he was the only one that made the Heroine feel special. They only saw each other that one time but they never forgot one another. And God did not forget them either.
  • A very entertaining story that is beautifully written to exemplify the true character of forgiveness! Angelica had been dealt a VERY bad hand in life! No child should have to endure this degree of hatred at the hands of their mother! The story will have you in tears but, God!! When all seems lost, hopeless, & intolerable; a miracle through a long-lost love appears. A faith restored & the enemy receives his due process!! This was my first book by this author but, it will NOT be my last! I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in a day. I will happily read more of Ms. Jackson's work, but I have to admit I was a little distracted by grammatical errors and typos. Ms. Jackson has wonderful talent, but I for one would appreciate it if there was better editing. With that said, I am still a fan. God Bless!
  • I really enjoyed reading this book because it's real, you never know what someone story is I cried, laugh was beyond angry, but she's had a perfect ending not going to give it away this book is a must read whatever you've gone through or going through, God is able to bring you out and delivered you and set you free can't wait for book two. Now getting ready to read her others books starting with " The Enemy Within" great job Mrs. Jackson
  • This was a great read! The young lady in the book is plagued by childhood abuse at the hand of her mother...and she lives her life accordingly. This book takes you on her journey to healing and possibly a new love! Likeable, relatable characters. FYI This book highlights the necessity of forgiveness for our own peace of mind.
